According to the Pima County Attorney's Office, the boyfriend who was originally facing charges of manslaughter in the death his girlfriend will not be charged.
Ronald Corbin Jr. was arrested and charged with one count of manslaughter after Genna Ayup was shot and killed in their eastside home near 22nd and Camino Seco this June.
But, according to the Pima County Attorney's Office, "the evidence is insufficient to prove beyond a reasonable doubt there was criminal intent."
In his initial court appearance in July, Corbin said he was about eight feet from his girlfriend when the gun he was holding accidentally went off and shot her in the head.
Corbin said the two were having a discussion when the gun accidently went off on June 25, killing the 26-year-old. He admitted to have been drinking before the incident.
