Illegal pot business busted in Tucson

Tucson Police raided several business locations for illegal marijuana growing activity.

The business went by 'Shop 420' and had four locations in Tucson and one in Casa Grande. They claimed they were a healing center that offered support for people with health challenges.

Tucson Police say the business was illegally growing and selling marijuana. On Wednesday, September 12, the Counter Narcotics Alliance, with assistance from the Tucson Police Community Response Teams, served search warrants at the following "Shop 420" locations:

• 5151 South 12th Avenue

• 3408 East Grant Road

• 8250 East Broadway Boulevard

• 408 East 7th Street

• 1145 East Florence Boulevard in Casa Grande

Police say they seized approximately 14 pounds of high grade, hydroponic marijuana  between all five locations, with an estimated street value of $50,000. Officers also seized 25 pounds of marijuana candy containing THC for sale. Detectives also located seized multiple fraudulent medical marijuana cards, as well as the equipment to produce them.

In all, ten people were arrested:

  • Renee Valenzuela, 29
  • Francisco Valenzuela, 32
  • Primo Camou, 27
  • John Robles, 24
  • Richard Leon, 33
  • Cruz Bradford, 30
  • Jorge Valenzuela, 26
  • Roberto Tapia, 47
  • Dale Jones, 39

Each were charged with one count of Conspiracy to Unlawfully Possess Marijuana for Sale, one count of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana for Sale, one count of Money Laundering and one count of Unlawful Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia. Police say one of those arrested was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest. He was charged with one count of Prohibited Possessor.
