TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
And with those three words, "Arizona it is" issued on his Twitter account this afternoon, 6'7 swingman Rondae Jefferson became the latest big get for the Arizona Wildcats basketball program.
The Chester (PA), suburban Philadelphia, star ended his recruitment during an in-home visit Thursday and committed to becoming the 2nd member of Sean Miller's 2013 recruiting class.
Jefferson joins northern California shooting guard Elliott Pitts who committed in August and will likely fill a need at the small forward position that will be vacant next season with the departures of seniors Solomon Hill and Kevin Parrom.
He is a five-star recruit was has the handle to play the point though and is known for his ability to make plays for his teammates.
This marks the third consecutive year that Sean Miller has landed at least one five-star recruit for his program.
This huge signing came just hours after the Hartford (CT) Courant newspaper mentioned Miller as a coach that the University of Connecticut should try to pursue now that longtime coach Jim Calhoun has decided to step down.
It would seem that a commitment like this helps solidify Miller's commitment to remaining in Tucson.
Jefferson's high school team has won 58 games in a row and the last two Pennsylvania state championships.
He was in Tucson this past weekend for an official visit and attended the Wildcat football team's upset win over Oklahoma State.
