A public celebration is happening this weekend for El Rio's Birth & Women's Health Center 30th birthday.
The Center was founded in Tucson in 1982, by two certified nurse-midwives.
According to a news release, in the past 30 years more than 9,000 babies have been birthed into the hands of nurse-midwives at El Rio's Birth & Women's Health Center. Currently the El Rio Birth and Women's Health Center is the only licensed free-standing birth center in southern Arizona, and the only facility in Tucson offering water-births.
Sunday's celebration is happening from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.. It will feature steel drum entertainment, face painting, tours, plus a short program, video and birthday cake.
The Center is located at 5979 East Grant Road.
