COCHISE COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
The acting sheriff of
Cochise County has just released a statement regarding the recent report about
long time Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever.
Dever was killed in a
rollover accident last month in northern Arizona. An autopsy showed Sheriff
Dever was drunk when he crashed. The medical examiner's report shows Dever had
a blood alcohol level of 0.29, which is more than three times the legal limit.
Chief Deputy Rod Rothrock
said today, " In light of the recent findings concerning the tragic death
of Sheriff Larry Dever, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office and I want to make
clear that the integrity of the department is unwavering… These findings come
as a shock for many and myself, as I have known Larry Dever for 30 years and
during that time I never knew him to be anything other than a strong and caring
leader of Cochise County."
Rothrock went on to say
the department will hold itself to the highest standard to provide the utmost
professional service to the citizens of Cochise County.
