TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Pima County Sheriff's Office reports that an inmate who escaped from the Minimum Security Facility (MSF) on Tucson's southwest side has been caught.

Wednesday night, at approximately 6:58 p.m., the Pima County Sheriff's Department received a notification from corrections personnel that an inmate from the facility had escaped.

Deputies from the Sheriff's Department San Xavier District responded to the MSF on Mission Road. The Corrections Emergency Response Team was already on scene.

Deputies learned that an inmate, identified as Cesar Lowe had been scheduled to be moved from the MSF back to the main facility, the Pima County Adult Detention Center.

During the loading process, inmate Lowe was able to escape and ran towards a neighborhood west of the MSF.

Lowe was housed at the MSF and was serving a six-month-sentence for a felony conviction for Thefts of Means of Transportation and a misdemeanor Theft charge. He was scheduled to be released on February 7, 2013.

Prior to coming to the Pima County Jail, he had served a 2.5-year-sentence at the Arizona Department of Corrections for Burglary.

A systematic search of the area was conducted and involved a helicopter from the Tucson Police Department, a motor officer from Oro Valley Police Department, Sheriff's Canine Units, the Sheriff's Department's fixed wing air unit, Corrections Officers, Directed Patrol Units and Detectives with the Fugitive Investigative Strike Team (FIST).

In a joint effort of Tucson Police Officers and Pima County Sheriff's Deputies, Lowe was located and apprehended at approximately 12:05 a.m. Thursday in the area of Cuesta Avenue and Sonora Street. That's just north of St. Mary's between Silverbell and Grande.
