BAYOU CORNE, LA (WAFB) -

Officials said the moving of hydrocarbons from the cavern under the giant sinkhole in Assumption Parish continued Thursday morning.

The Assumption Parish Police Jury reported Texas Brine advised it was also still "skimming" at the sinkhole site.

Crews are reportedly closer to finishing a vent well near the sinkhole.

However, parish officials said Texas Brine is unsure when it will begin venting the hydrocarbons.

Residents will be updated on the latest information related to the sinkhole during a briefing Tuesday at 6 p.m.
