MARANA, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Crews from several local fire departments worked late Friday to control a fire at Pinal Air Park.

Avra Valley Fire Department Public Information Officer, Patrick Calhoun, tells Tucson News Now, units from the Avra Valley Fire District, Northwest Fire District and Silverbell Army Heliport Fire Department were called out just after 10:45 p.m..

Calhoun says crews arrived and found a building with smoke and flames billowing from the roof. Firefighters entered the building and had to extinguish the flames which were in the attic space of the structure.  In order to stop the spread of the fire throughout the rest of the structure firefighters had to pull ceiling materials to get to the fire.

It took 20 firefighters about 50 minutes to control the fire.

Calhoun says the building was used for an employee's break room and storage for the mechanic's tools that they use to work on the aircraft inside the air park.

Nobody was inside the structure at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation by Silverbell Fire and Marana Aerospace Solutions.
