TUCSON, Ariz. – Samantha
Bricio recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 10 digs to lead No. 6 USC
(22-4, 10-4 Pac-12) to a 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 20-25, 23-25) victory over Arizona
(13-12, 5-9 Pac-12) on Sunday afternoon inside the McKale Center.
USC setter Hayley Crone also
finished with a double-double by dishing out a match-high 44 assists to go
along with 10 digs. Sara Shaw had 12 kills, while Natalie Hagglund finished
with a team-high 19 digs.
USC hit .270 for the match,
while holding the Wildcats to .169 hitting. Each team had 55 kills, but Arizona
was hurt by 30 attack errors, compared to just 17 for the Trojans.
Arizona was led by Madi
Kingdon (Phoenix, Ariz.), who recorded her 10th double-double of
the year. Kingdon tied for match-high honors with 18 kills and also tied for a
match-high in digs with 19. Shaquillah Torres (Riverside, Calif.) had 11
kills on .333 hitting for the match. Lauren Fuller (Los Angeles, Calif.)
and Chanel Brown (Tempe, Ariz.) combined to dish out 45 assists. Fuller
had 25 assists and six digs, while Brown recorded 20 assists, five digs and a
match-high four service aces. Meanwhile, Ronni Lewis (San Jose, Calif.)
and Taylor Arizobal (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) each finished with 15 digs.
The Wildcats hit the
road to face Oregon State and No. 2 Oregon next Friday and Saturday. Arizona
will open the weekend at Oregon State on Friday at 5:00 p.m. PT.
