Local political party heads make last minute voter push

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

This is the last weekend before the big election on Tuesday and Republicans and Democrats are working overtime to make sure everyone votes.  The Pima County Republican Party headquarters was staffed with people making calls to voters.

"In here we're just coordinating people who maybe need ballots picked up, people who need rides to the polls," says chairperson Carolyn Cox.

"It's very exhausting.  The candidates have really worked hard and it really is a tough job to run as a candidate."

We caught up with the head of the Pima County Democratic Party, Jeff Rogers, at the phone bank where volunteers were telling voters to mark the date and get to the polls on election day.

"I've got ten calling stations it's a computerized system, it dials 30 lines at the same time," says Rogers who is urging people to re-elect President Barack Obama.

"I think it's very close, but I think he's holding onto the states he needs to hold onto, Ohio and some of the Midwestern states and I think if he wins Florida it's all over for Romney."

Voters must remember it's too late to mail your early ballot so on Tuesday you will have to drop it off at any polling site.
