With 100 percent of precincts reporting in Cochise County, Mark Dannels, republican, has a majority of the votes for sheriff.

Former Sheriff Larry Dever died after a rollover accident in northern Arizona in September.

Dannels was the former Cochise County commander.

It was a complicated race to elect a successor to Dever. Most of the candidates were write-ins and at least six candidates ran. Included was the acting Sheriff Rodney Rothrock, who served as chief deputy under Larry Dever.
