The 93rd Annual Veterans Day parade will start at 10:30 a.m., and it is going to be a cold one today, so if you plan on attending remember to bundle up.
Downtown will be packed later this morning for the Veterans Day parade. The route is shorter this year, because of all the construction downtown, but still about 5,000 people are expected to line the streets of Downtown. Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs or find a good spot to stand.
Drivers headed Downtown should keep that in mind, and expect traffic delays as early as 8 a.m.
The parade is put together by volunteers and this year organizers hope to see a big turnout. Numerous veterans organizations are participating. There will also be about 90 airmen from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base walking in the parade. The Freedom Riders and various convertible clubs will also be taking to the streets.
If you are planning to attend the parade and want good parking, plan on heading out early. The city garage will be open free of charge, off Congress and Manning House Way. The parade is expected to be over by noon.
