Consult El Tour map before heading out this weekend

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Police will have about 160 officers working El Tour de Tucson.  The Pima County Sheriff's Department will have 200 deputies and volunteers, in addition to officers from Marana, Oro Valley police departments and DPS officers.

TPD officials have told Tucson News Now that they are going to keep traffic flowing when and where they can, but cyclists' safety comes first. But there are no guarantees.

If drivers are waiting for cyclists, they could be trapped for 30 to 45 minutes, maybe even an hour.

Many drivers may not want to wait in their cars such long times, and should check the official route map to know the intersections to avoid.  The map tells drivers when cyclists start and end their rides though certain areas of Tucson.
