TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

After making sure thousands of ballots have the right signature and were cast at the right polling location, the Pima County Recorder's Office expects to beat that 12 p.m. deadline to have them all done.

Then again,  F. Ann Rodriguez says it's only a goal. Everything has be counted and she'd rather be right than early.

Then it's in the hands of the elections department.

"We'll give everything over to the department of elections and then they have their process of marrying up the ones we said, okay, for this voter count this ballot that's in a special envelope and for this voter, you will not count it for these reasons," she said.

"The end is in sight," said Brad Nelson.

Elections will process the validated ballots tomorrow. From there they say the next goal is to count them all by the end of Sunday or early Monday.

In some cases the ballots might not be readable by machine and workers will duplicate those ballots under the watchful eye of monitors with each political party.

"We've had various beauty products like eyebrow pencils marking ballots, glitter pens, chalk, crayon, you name it, if you can write with it I think it's marked our ballots at some point in time," he said.

The recorder says about 30 people attempted to vote twice in the election and their information will be turned over to the Pima County attorney.
