Queen Creek running back Matt Guida posted his 8th 200-yard rushing night and scored three touchdowns as the Bulldogs ended Nogales' dreams of a state championship with a 35-0 thumping in the Division III State Semifinals.
Queen Creek used a two-deep cover zone to thwart the Apaches effort to throw the ball deep, intercepting Nogales quarterback Marcel Renteria twice.
The Apaches made the game's first big play when linebacker Luis Lee forced a fumble and it was recovered by Coy Colgate. But Nogales could not capitalize and Guida pulled off a sparkling 62-yard run on Queen Creek's next possession to set up his own one-yard touchdown run and an early 7-0 lead.
Guida gave the Bulldogs a 14-0 halftime advantage when he ran 32 yards for a score in the second quarter.
The Apaches offense never got untracked, as Nogales dropped critical passes and couldn't keep the chains moving.
Renteria finished 13-for-31 and the Bulldogs held running back Brian McCarty to just 18 yards receiving after he came in averaging almost 200 yards per game in the post-season.
