Sgt. Robert Carpenter was shot in the head early Sunday morning.

Carpenter was shot when he was responding to an alarm at a midtown home near Broadway and Alvernon. It was the second time in a period of a few hours that the burglar alarm went off.
He was rushed to the University of Arizona Medical Center and is recovering from surgery. Tucson News Now has been told he was responding to questions and his surroundings.
When police arrived at the scene after the first alarm, they saw a man running away from the home, but after a massive search, police did not find anyone.
