This morning we know which schools in the Tucson Unified School District could close to save money, and today the School Board will weigh their options.
Later today the TUSD School Board will consider the closures to help with the $17 million budget shortfall. Yesterday TUSD released a list of 15 schools that could be closed. The plan lays out the schools that could close as well as the schools that will receive the students affected by the closures.
Last week the Board decided to close 10 schools, today they will look at their options.
The two scenarios have a total of 15 schools; the board can vote to begin closures on more schools than it intends to close. This is all up for discussion today.
The Board has changed the meeting venue; it has been moved to Catalina Magnet High School, near Grant and Palo Verde Boulevard and starts at 6 p.m.
TUSD changed locations because they are expecting a lot of people to show up for the meeting.
The list of schools and more information about possible closures can be found on the Tucson News Now website.
