Local resource centers serving Thanksgiving Dinners

Posted: Updated:

Local resource centers are preparing for their big thanksgiving meals.

The Gospel Rescue Mission has been cooking all morning preparing for tomorrow's big meal. They're expecting to feed some 3,000 families. They will begin serving at 11am and it will go on until about 2pm. They will have about 500 volunteers helping serve and cook meals for folks in need. It was a week or two ago, that the GRM was looking for more donations. With everything packed in the fridge, they are ready to serve.

This afternoon at the El Pueblo Neighborhood Center at 6th Avenue and Irvington. Luz Social Services hosted its 14th annual "Thanksgiving in the Barrio. Some 2,000 families in need were given turkey, corn, mashed potatoes and other side dishes. The families also got the chance to get information from a resource center on health, housing and jobs.

Luz Social Services and Gospel Rescue Mission will be serving holiday meals next month and will need some donations. If you would like to help out. Click the links below for more information.
