Tucson can be thankful for many things

During this Thanksgiving week, there are many things to be thankful for - and we have 10 for you to consider.  Here are the first five:

  1. There are signs the city of Tucson is shedding its image as anti-business.  Tucson has one of the highest poverty rates in America and needs jobs.
  2. Not only is the city paying attention to downtown Tucson, but more than $200 million in private investment has been made in the past couple of years.
  3. Tucson and Pima County finally recognized state gas-tax money to repair roads was not being allocated anymore and took steps to fund road repair. Good roads are vital to a local economy.
  4. The Metropolitan Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau renamed itself "Visit Tucson" and opened offices in Mexico, which could generate more than $1 billion in tourism to the Tucson area.
  5. The housing market in Southern Arizona is slowly but surely recovering.  The number of homes sold and the average price are increasing every month, and the number of new building permits is on the rise.

Later this week, five more things we're thankful for.  Let us know what's on your list.  Drop me an e-mail or comment here!
