Erica Wilson recorded a team-high 17 kills to lead Arizona State (20-13, 9-11 Pac-12) to a 3-1 (13-25, 25-17, 27-25, 25-19) victory over Arizona (16-15, 8-12 Pac-12) on Friday night in the regular season finale for both teams inside Wells Fargo Arena.
Macey Gardner added 14 kills and Whitney Follette had 10 kills for the Sun Devils, who hit just .178 as a team in the match. Meanwhile, Arizona recorded a .232 hitting percentage and also out-blocked ASU, 14-10. The Sun Devils did finish with an 8-2 advantage in service aces.
Arizona was led by Madi Kingdon (Phoenix, Ariz.), who tallied 17 kills and 12 digs for her 13th double-double of the season. Taylor Arizobal (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) and Halli Amaro (Los Alamitos, Calif.) also recorded double-figure kills with 12 and 11, respectively. Amaro also finished with a team-high eight blocks. Rachel Rhoades (San Diego, Calif.) had five kills and no errors along with seven blocks. Meanwhile, Ronni Lewis (San Jose, Calif.) had a match-high and career-high 23 digs to lead the Arizona defense.
Arizona loses in their last two matches will likely end the team's string of three straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
