SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) - A 50-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was shot multiple times in her San Tan Valley home Sunday afternoon, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said.
Her name was not released.
The shooter was an acquaintance of the woman's 25-year-old daughter, according to PCSO spokesman Tim Gaffney.
The young woman had taken her 8-year-old daughter to a nearby McDonald's when she got a call from her mom saying a man with a gun was inside their home, Gaffney said.
The daughter immediately called 911. The victim was rushed to Banner Ironwood, then to Scottsdale Osborne, with gunshot wounds to her face and chest.
Another 8-year-old daughter and a stepfather who also live at the residence were not home at the time of the shooting, Gaffney said.
Sheriff's investigators are trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
