A 21-year-old woman gave birth at the San Luis port of entry shortly after entering the United States on Thanksgiving Day.
According to a news release, the woman told U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers that she was in labor and asked for assistance.
They called the San Luis Fire Department and a CBP officer assisted the woman until paramedics arrived.
"This was one of the scariest, rewarding and amazing experiences in my life," the officer said.
The mother and her newborn son were taken to the Yuma Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
