TPD: Serial armed robber arrested

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Jose Cuevas, 18, was arrested last Sunday. He allegedly robbed a Denny's and Toys-R-Us prior to his arrest that same day.

Detectives believe he was involved in multiple robberies over the past two months, many of which were at Food City locations. Cuevas had a handgun during the robberies, according to police, and he fired a shot through the ceiling on one occasion.

Cuevas was arrested for the following armed robberies:

• October 1, 2012 - Circle K at 2 West Valencia Road

• October 1, 2012 - Food City at 1221 West Irvington Road

• October 3, 2012 - Food City at 719 West Ft. Lowell Road

• October 3, 2012 - Food City at 1221 West Irvington Road

• October 7, 2012 - Food City at 2000 E. Irvington Road (attempt only, shot fired into the ceiling of the business)

• November 23, 2012 - Food City at 3030 East 22nd Street
