Sun Shuttle opens new route for riders

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Happening today, Sun Tran kicks off its newest route on the southeast side.

Sun Shuttle Route 450 is offering more bus riding options to residents on the southeastern side of Tucson and Rita Ranch, to include Pima Community College's East Campus.

This shuttle also has stops between the intersections of Golf Links and Kolb.  This new route comes from the $2.1 billion plan approved by Pima County voters in 2006, and will be in effect until February 2013.

Today passengers get to ride the new bus route for free; starting tomorrow riders will have to pay the regular bus fee of $1.50.

A ceremony is being held this morning, off Pantano and Poinciana Drive.  Anyone interested in learning more about this new route is welcome to attend.
