AZ certifies election results

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The results of Arizona's Nov. 6 election are now on the books.

The secretary of state, attorney general and Supreme Court chief justice certified the election results this morning during a ceremony at the state capitol.

Arizona became the butt of jokes after election day as some counties took weeks to process an enormous backlog of mail-in and provisional ballots.

Voter turnout dropped three percent from the last presidential election in 2008.

Gov. Jan Brewer did not attend today's event.

Her office says Brewer is out of the state on official business.
