TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
An assistant professor in the University of Arizona College
of Public Health received nearly half a million dollars in grant money to research
type 2 diabetes.
His research will look at how to predict type 2 diabetes
risk early using genetic information across different ethnic groups.
Yann C. Klimentidis,
Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the epidemiology and biostatistics division
of the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. He received the $440,000
grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney
Diseases.
He is going to look at data from European Americans, Mexican
Americans, and African Americans to see how genetics contribute to type 2
diabetes risks.
