Rural communities to benefit from mobile dental clinic

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Happening today, the Pima County Board of Supervisors will vote on a form of expanded dental care that would help children in rural parts of Pima County.

The United Community Health Center is asking for $50,000 to buy a second medical van to provide mobile dental services to children living in rural Pima County.  The health center is asking the board to help match the money donated by Freeport McMoran.

The UCHC says rural Pima County is in need of dental services and the mobile unit would help less fortunate families by providing service to an estimated 2,000 kids annually in Green Valley and Sahuarita.

The mobile dental unit would be able to provide these services on-site at local schools.  The Pima County Board of Supervisors will see today if it can locate the funding being asked.
