A documentary film that has been screened around the nation made a stop in Tucson at the Fox Tucson Theatre. The film is called "Heroes Behind the Badge."
The film looks at several different incidents around the county, in which a law enforcement person was killed in the line of duty. It gives the perspective of the personnel involved and the loved ones that lost a family member.
Bill Erfurth is the executive producer of the film. The project had been something he considered for some time. This year that dream of finishing the film came true. It has been seen in over 20 cities so far and there are more stops on the list. He started the project after two of his close friends from the Miami-Dade police department were killed.
Nohemy Hite knows the feeling of losing a loved one in the line of duty. Her husband Tucson Police Officer Erik Hite was killed back in 2008. "It will bring back emotions and will be tough to watch," said Nohemy Hite.
About half of the proceeds from the film will go to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. Part of the money from the Tucson screening will go to the 100 Club of Arizona and the Erik Hite Foundation.
