Businesses hoping winter street fair will help sales

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The 4th Avenue Winter Street Fair has just begun.

Some of the businesses say this is a celebration of the end of Modern Streetcar construction and the end of a difficult eight months.

Tucson News Now spoke with a handful of businesses who all said the same thing, it was a struggle to make it through since April.

One business has said his store saw sales go down 35 percent, during construction.

Each business that was talked to said even though the portion of the fence in front of their store was down, the perception was that it was still closed.

They hope all of that perception changes, starting today.  The 4th Avenue Street Fair runs through Sunday.

It may be bad news for a bear spotted several times in an area in Rio Rico the last few weeks, state wildlife workers may have to put it down.  However, they may not have to kill it, IF neighbors change their ways.
