Catalina Foothills junior forward Chaz Mack made an early statement that this early-season match up of Southern Arizona powers wasn't going to be much of a match up at all.
The Falcons big man scored 14 of his game-high 25 points in the first quarter as Catalina Foothills (8-1) ran away and hid from visiting Sahuaro 75-44.
CFHS never trailed as they built a 20-point first half lead by dominating the boards and limiting the Cougars' second-chance opportunities.
Sahuaro did make a run though as they closed the second quarter with a 7-2 surge thanks to an Arthur Gibson three-pointer at the horn, trimming the Falcons lead to 39-24 at intermission.
The Cougars (8-3) carried that momentum into the third quarter as Catalina Foothills got sloppy with the basketball and Owen Sanchez and James Molina sparked an 8-2 start to slice the Falcons advantage to nine.
But Catalina Foothills went back to their main men, Mack and Ryan McHenry who added 15 points and pulled away down the stretch.
Molina paced the Cougars with 12 points.
