TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
Northwest Fire units rescued a woman who was injured when she was thrown
from a horse in the Tucson Mountains. The 50-year-old woman suffered serious,
but non-life threatening injuries.
The accident happened in the area of Sweetwater Drive and Camino de
Oeste in the Tucson Foothills Estates.
Northwest Fire said they used a stokes basket to get the woman out of a 30-
to 40-foot drop in the wash. It took an hour and 15 minutes to complete the
rescue.
A friend that was with the victim was able to ride back to a house to call
911. The horse was not injured and the family of the victim took the horse
home. The victim was transported in a helicopter to UAMC.
