A stop at a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday resulted in an arrest and the discovery of a stabbing victim.
Rebecca Marie Gomez, 42, was stopped on Dec. 8 at the checkpoint at Palo Verde Road and Aviation Parkway. She had three passengers, a 57-year-old male and Gomez's two teen-aged daughters.
According to a news release, Pima County Sheriff's deputies noticed blood on the driver's side door of the truck Gomez was driving. Deputies noticed that the man was bleeding and further investigation revealed that he had been involved in an altercation. Further evaluation of the man revealed more stab wounds to his body.
Rural Metro Fire transported him to the University of Arizona Medical Center for treatment. There was no report of the severity of his wounds or his condition.
Tucson Police Department detectives are investigating the stabbing incident.
Gomez was arrested for two felony counts of child abuse and one felony count of aggravated DUI for driving under the influence while driving on a suspended or revoked driver's license suspended or revoked for DUI. She was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center.
