Tucson and the University of Arizona are in the national spotlight this weekend thanks to the UA Athletic Department.
The football team is in Albuquerque preparing for the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. The Wildcats will be playing Nevada on Saturday morning at 11. Then at 8 that night, the eighth ranked Arizona men's basketball team takes on No. 5 Florida. It's a huge game hosted in McKale Center.
Both football and basketball games will be carried live on ESPN. Of course, KOLD News 13 will be at both games and will provide live, local, late breaking coverage.
Tucson is very fortunate to have UA. It is a major employer and part of our culture. At a time when we are busy getting ready for the holidays or worried about falling off the fiscal cliff, isn't it nice to sit back and watch these young athletes compete and show off the pride of Tucson. When the UA succeeds, Tucson succeeds. Bear down - and GO CATS!
