TUSCON (Tucson News Now) - Deputies say a man accused of making a false crime report might have gotten away with it, if not for his east-coast voice.

Pima County Sheriff's Deputies say they got a 9-1-1 call Wednesday night about a fight in progress involving a deputy on the northwest side.  Deputies heard an alarm tone over their radios, but the deputy in the area thought to be in the fight radioed back that he was okay.

Deputies checked with neighboring agencies and even conducted a search just to be sure their officers were okay, but they soon determined the call was a hoax.

It turned out the call came from a 9-1-1-only phone, and deputies working in the area became suspicious because earlier in the evening, they had dealt with a couple where the female, identified as 32-year-old Jennifer Golden, ended up being arrested for Driving on a Suspended License.  Deputies say during that encounter, a man with her identified as 34-year-old Daniel T. Golden got angry with deputies.  During their interaction with the couple, deputies say the noted a distinct New York accent on Mr. Golden.

Deputies listened to a recording of the 9-1-1 call and determined Mr. Golden was the caller. They later arrested him at his home.  He's charged with False Reporting to Law Enforcement, a misdemeanor.
