22-year-old woman dies in accident on southwest side

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A 22-year-old woman was killed Saturday morning in a two-vehicle accident on the southwest side, police said.

Tucson Police identified her as Mandie Scammell.

The crashed happened at the intersection of South La Cholla Road and West San Marcos at 2:45 a.m., Sgt. Maria Hawke said, when two vehicles collided nearly head on.

The driver of the second vehicle turned left in front of Scammell, killing her.

Two people in the second vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol might have been a factor in the collision.
