TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
Empire High School in Vail will hold a candlelight vigil tonight in memory of a student who was killed in a car accident over the weekend.
Grayson Weeks, a 16-year-old junior at the Empire high school, died in the two-car crash on eastbound I-10 near Marsh Station Road.
Terri Smith, the assistant principal's secretary said the vigil is planned for 6 p.m. on the football field.
Authorities say 16-year-old Austin Avila was driving a small sedan eastbound on the I-10 when the car ran off the left side of the roadway.
As Avila tried to get back to the roadway, the vehicle rolled, ejecting Weeks, a passenger.
Weeks was then struck by an SUV and suffered fatal injuries. The people inside the SUV were not hurt.
Avila and one other passenger, 17-year-old David Aldstadt, were taken to a local hospital for their injuries. Two other passengers in Avila's car were treated and released from a local hospital.
