TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

After being closed for most of the morning, Sandario Road is open again, as Pima County Sheriff's Department officials have finished part of their investigation.

A motorcyclist was killed in an accident early this morning, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department officials.

The motorcyclist has been identified as 56-year-old Perry Rubinelli of Tucson.

PCSD officials are saying that Rubinelli slammed on his brakes for an unknown reason and flew off the bike.  He landed in the middle of the south bound lane, and was later struck by a pickup truck.  Rubinelli had on a helmet and other safety gear, officials say.

The truck had been headed southbound on Sandario. PCSD officials say the truck driver has no injuries, but is shaken up by the accident.

Law enforcement officials say that alcohol, drugs and speeding are likely not factors.
