PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A Gilbert man accused of carjacking several vehicles while naked and allegedly causing crashes that injured seven people in Scottsdale has changed his plea.

In January, 45-year-old John Brigham of Gilbert entered a guilty plea to robbery, aggravated assault, transportation theft and three counts of endangerment. But on Friday, he withdrew his guilty plea and the case will go to trial.

Scottsdale police took Brigham, who is a former real estate agent and high school teacher, to a hospital for an evaluation after the June 29 incident and a toxicology test showed he had the drug PCP in his system. [WATCH: Naked man charged with stealing a car caught on tape]

Witnesses said the carjacker exited a vehicle after the first crash in the 8900 block of East Shea, took off his clothes and stole another vehicle.

Witnesses said they also observed him climbing on top of the roof of one of the vehicles and chanting unknown statements.

Just before he was arrested, witnesses said they saw Brigham try to forcibly enter three other vehicles that were stopped on Shea.

Police said four people were injured in the second crash, including a woman who was eight months pregnant. She suffered two broken legs.
