AAA: Most dangerous intersections in Tucson

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

AAA released its list of the most dangerous intersections in Tucson, based on the number of collisions over three years.

Here is the list:

  1. Alvernon Way & Grant Road
  2. Grant Road & Swan Road
  3. Golf Links Road & Kolb Road
  4. Broadway & Wilmot
  5. 22nd Street & Kolb Road

The average number of collisions at the intersections from 2010-2012. 72 for Alvernon & Grant, 69 for Grant & Swan, 60 for Golf Links & Kolb, 60 for Broadway & Wilmot and 58 for 22nd & Kolb.

AAA wants to remind drivers to be especially cautious around these intersections which become even more congested around the holidays.

Speeding, inattention, and red-light running create high risks for drivers around Tucson.

In Arizona throughout 2011 there were 9,648 crashes. As of Dec. 12, 2012 there have been 5,700 collisions in Tucson this year.

    Tucson Police need the the public's help in finding a missing elderly woman. 87-year-old Ramilda Guglielmo has dementia and was last seen near the area of Grant Road and Silverbell Road at 10:30 a.m.  Police said she is about 5'2" tall and weighs about 155 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white top and dark pants.  If you have seen her, call 911.
