Taylor McClelland continued her goal scoring rampage against Canyon del Oro at Tucson High's Champions Cup Soccer Tournament.
The speedy sophomore scored 12 seconds in to the match and then again in the 50th minute to break a 1-1 tie and keep the Mustangs undefeated (11-0-1) with a 2-1 victory over the Dorados.
McClelland, who missed most of her freshman season with a broken arm, now has 26 goals in 11 games. That is more than three times more than the next player on her team.
The first minute of this match was somewhat wacky. CDO countered McClelland's quick strike with one of their own as Dorado sophomore Natalie Rudolph smashed one home just 18 seconds later.
The Mustangs though used their defense to control much of the second half. Goalie Lilia Calvillo finished with seven saves.
Sahuarita beat Flowing Wells on Tuesday and is now 2-0 in pool play. The Mustangs will face host Tucson High at 6 p.m. Thursday night. The tournament concludes with bracket play on Friday.
