TUSD will decide whether to close schools tonight

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Happening tonight, the TUSD board will decide whether to close more schools than it ever has at one time.

14 schools are on the list.

The district is facing declining enrollments and an estimated $17 million budget shortfall. Tonight, the board will the vote on the closures.

That meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., in the auditorium at Catalina Magnet High School.

The Cienega fire is now at least 50 percent contained after burning 150 acres.  It broke out Saturday, May 27 near Hilton Ranch Road and Red Cloud Mine Roads.  No buildings are threatened.
