Leftwich out, Ragle in as UA tight ends coach

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona football assistant coach for tight ends and offensive special teams Spencer Leftwich is leaving the Wildcat staff to accept a position within the Division I coaching ranks.

"I want to thank Spencer Leftwich for the good job he did during his time at Arizona," head coach Rich Rodriguez said. "He was a valued member of our staff and we wish him luck in the future."

"From the bottom of my heart, I'm so grateful and appreciative to Rich Rodriguez for giving me the opportunity to work with him and our staff at Arizona," Leftwich said. "I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Tucson and the success we had this year. This is an opportunity, to get my whole family together, that I just couldn't pass up."

Formerly UA's assistant director of football operations, Charlie Ragle has been promoted to the on-field staff and will serve as Arizona's tight ends coach. Operations coordinator during the 2012 season, Billy Kirelawich will move into the role of Assistant Director of Operations.

The Wildcats beat Nevada, 49-48, in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl on Saturday and finished the 2012 season with an 8-5 record in Rodriguez's first campaign at the helm of the UA program.
