TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona baseball team has garnered a No. 18 ranking in Collegiate Baseball's Fabulous 40 NCAA Division I pre-season baseball poll, the newspaper announced on Thursday. The Wildcats finished the 2012 season ranked No. 1 after winning the school's fourth national championship last June.

Arizona, which won a share of the Pac-12 conference crown during a 48-17 season last spring, is picked behind five other conference schools in the pre-season poll. Defending co-champion UCLA is slotted highest at No. 5, followed closely by No. 6 Oregon, No. 9 Stanford, No. 10 Oregon State and No. 16 Arizona State.

The Wildcats return five key position players from the 2012 champion club, including reigning Pac-12 batting champion Johnny Field and freshman All-American catcher Riley Moore. On the mound, junior right-handers Konner Wade and James Farris headline a strong staff, along with sophomores Mathew Troupe and Tyler Crawford, who each bolstered the bullpen as freshmen a year ago.

Arizona plays host to 38 home games at Hi Corbett Field this season. Last year, the Wildcats led the west coast in attendance drawing over 105,000 fans for regular season and postseason games combined.

General admission season tickets are currently on sale through the McKale Ticket Office and can be purchased by calling 520-621-2287 or online at www.arizonawildcats.com. Season tickets in Hi Corbett's reserved seating areas are sold out.

Baseball mini-plans for general admission seating areas will go on sale beginning Jan. 14. Individual game tickets will be available starting Feb. 1.

The 2013 season will begin on Friday, Feb. 15, to open a three-game series against Coppin State. Opening night will feature recognition of the 2012 national championship team as well as a post-game fireworks display.
