It's the weekend before Christmas so shoppers made a mad dash for the mall to pick up those last minute gifts. Some shoppers reported spending a little more, but choosing their gifts wisely.
"You know it's been a pretty good year for us, a little bit more. Wish I could spend more but you know times are tough," says Bermie Madlangbayan who bought warm weather gear and socks for his loved ones.
Some shoppers say they're spending more cash this time around, mainly on practical purchases.
"Mainly just buy clothes and toys for the kids and stay away from the electronics,"says shopper Gamaro Contreras.
"As long as it's within our means, and we can pay cash, we don't want to put it on credit," says shopper Amanda Campion.
Choosey shoppers are chasing seasonal savings with a little help from family.
"well you have somebody to bounce your ideas off of," says one shopper who brought her mother for the last minute gift-buying.
The goal is to avoid that post-holiday guilt while spreading lots of cheer.
A CNN report predicts holiday spending to be up by 4.1% compared to last year.
