Tucson Fire responded to two early morning 911 calls from neighbors about a possible house fire on the 1300 block of St. Mary's. Both came in around 4 a.m.
According to TFD when crews arrived on scene, two men were seen leaving the home. The two men were neighbors who lived down the street. They told TFD that they believed two people to be inside the home. TFD crews then entered the home searching for anyone inside, putting out the fire in the process. It took nine units and 23 firefighters to put the fire out within five minutes of arriving on scene.
Crews reported that no one was found inside the home, and damage was minimal, confined to the back portion of the home, this is according to TFD. Cost of damage is estimated to be $20,000.
The concerned neighbors were both checked over by medical personnel and were fine, this is according to Tucson Fire officials. No injuries were reported and the Red Cross was not needed.
The homeowners have yet to arrive on scene, according to TFD, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
