Alexis Cortez has arrived.
The 5'11 freshman scored 23 points as the Tucson Badgers ran off the first 16 points of the third quarter and ran away and hid from Casa Grande Vista Grande 76-30 on Pool Play Day at the Flowing Wells Girls Shootout.
The Badgers (14-0), the best team in Southern Arizona, now have a date with whom many believe to be the second best team in Tucson, the host Caballeros (11-3) in the Gold Bracket semifinals Friday at Noon.
The winner will face the winner of Sahuaro-Desert Christian at 4:30 p.m. in the top bracket Championship.
TMHS easily handled Catalina 64-28 earlier Thursday.
Cortez is averaging 15 points and five rebounds for Annette Gutierrez, the Salpointe Catholic Hall of Famer, who is in her first season at Tucson High.
Erin Christina-Rupp added 13 points for the Badgers.
