Deadline approaching to claim charity donation for 2012

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The end of the year is almost here, but many residents can still help out local charities and claim a tax credit.

The credit comes off your income tax and is matched dollar per dollar instead of a deduction which is usually only a percentage.

To claim any charity you will need to itemize your tax deductions and to get the tax credit the donation needs to make it in by Monday (December 31).

"So what happens if you donate to us, you get an Arizona State credit tax and it's dollar per dollar match and its $200 per individual and its $400 for a married couple," said Cio Castillo from the Community Food Bank.

That is the max per individual and per married couple; the Community Food Bank wants to let people know that Jim Click and the Peeble family are matching donations dollar per dollar up to $50,000 till the end of the year.

You can donate online, call in your donation, or mail it in.

For more information on these donations check out the Tucson News Now website.
