There is a reward being offered for information about a javelina that was killed by poachers during the Christmas holiday.
Arizona
Game and Fish is offering up to $500 for information leading to the
arrest of the person or persons responsible for the illegal killing.
The javelina was found shot in the head and then possibly dragged down a
residential area south of Bisbee.
The javelina was discovered
with an orange extension cord going through its mouth, in a residential
area east of Naco Highway, near the corner of Della and Bowers streets.
"Poachers
are not hunters. They are criminals stealing wildlife from the citizens
of Arizona," said acting Regional Supervisor Gabriel Paz of Game and
Fish in Tucson, in a recent news release. "The possibility that the
carcass was dragged along a residential street on Christmas Day is
especially troubling to us."
Anyone with information about the
case may contact Operation Game Thief at 1-800-352-0700, anonymously if
need be, and reference OGT#12-003156. Calls are taken 24 hours a day,
seven days a week. Information may also be provided on-line at http://www.azgfd.gov/ogt_form.shtml
