TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Five Tucson teenagers were out of food, water and daylight on Mount Lemmon on Sunday night when they were assisted by Pima County Sheriff's deputies.

The five went hiking Thursday and told family members they would return Saturday, Deputy Monica Torralba told Tucson News Now.

When they did not return, family members called the Pinal County sheriff's office, thinking the teenagers were hiking Peppersauce Canyon in Pinal County.

Pinal turned the case over to Pima County around 2 p.m. Sunday.

One of the teenagers hiked to the Mount Lemmon observatory Sunday and told deputies they were fine, but were out of supplies, Torralba said.

The other four were about a quarter mile from the observatory when they were located by deputies at 5:30 p.m.

They are all in good condition, Torralba said.

Deputies are assisting the teenagers in returning home, she said.
