Injured hiker airlifted to hospital after fall in Catalina State Park

CATALINA STATE PARK, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A hiker injured in a fall in Catalina State Park had to be airlifted to a local hospital for treatment today.

According to a spokesman for the Southern Arizona Search and Rescue, the 27-year-old male fell and hit his head this morning. He is conscious and alert.

He was airlifted to a local hospital this afternoon.

Other hikers, including an off-duty EMT, also came to his aid.

Pima County Sheriff's deputies say the incident occurred about 2 miles in on the Romero Canyon Trail.
